51 arrested as Black Lives Matters protestors shut down I-94 West in Minneapolis

Vanessa Taylor, 20, of Minneapolis, an activist with the Black Liberation Project, sits in front of the Minneapolis Police Department 4th precinct headquarters, where Black Lives Matter activists have set up an encampment in response to the police shooting of 24-year-old Jamar Clark by Minneapolis Police on Sunday.

Hundreds gathered for a protest outside the precinct starting at 5 pm on Monday, November 16, 2015 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, then marched along Plymouth Avenue and shut down the westbound lanes of I-94 West for several hours starting at 7 pm. Several dozen protestors remained after police issued multiple warnings to disperse, and 51 were arrested (43 adults and 8 juveniles).

Taylor was among those arrested.

Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges has asked the U.S. Justice Department for a civil rights investigation into the shooting.
