Mourning Sean Bell for New York Times
Mourner Stefan Johnson, 32, leaves the wake of Sean Bell, 23, (depicted on McPherson's jacket) who was killed in a hail of 50 bullets by New York City police officers, at the Community Church of Christ in Queens, New York on December 1, 2006. Bell was killed in the early morning of November 25, 2006 leaving his bachelor party at Club Kalua in Queens, just hours before he as scheduled to marry in the church where his funeral was held.
Johnson, who did not know Bell but came to show his respects, said he has been studying to become a police officer. "Every few months or years this happens to someone else," he said of the shooting.
