Roger Hanson, of Big Lake, Minnesota, has been building the Lake Superior Ice Project in Superior, Wisconsin for several months, living in an RV nearby from which he operates the computerized command center he created to make the structure. Today, the four-tier, 66' structure fell to the ground.
Cones indicate a spot in the ice of Lake Superior where a sump pump was pulling water to feed Hanson's ice wall building system.
