Roger Hanson, of Big Lake, Minnesota, has been building the Lake Superior Ice Project in Superior, Wisconsin for several months, living in an RV nearby from which he operates the computerized command center he created to make the structure. Today, the four-tier, 66' structure fell to the ground.
Afterwards, inside the RV, town officials arrived for a planned meeting with Times reporter to find a crisis on their hands. They listened to Hanson's explanation and prepared him to talk to media inside the RV:
