Roger Hanson, of Big Lake, Minnesota, has been building the Lake Superior Ice Project in Superior, Wisconsin for several months, living in an RV nearby from which he operates the computerized command center he created to make the structure. Today, the four-tier, 66' structure fell to the ground.
Hanson spent years making a computer program, which he can also access on his iPhone, that monitors weather conditions and other factors related to the building of the ice wall.
