Black Lives Matters protest outside the Minneapolis Police Department 4th precinct
Mahmoud El-Kati, 80, of the New School of African-American Thought, speaks to the protesters with the Black Lives Matter movement as they gathered for a night of community and protest outside the Minneapolis Police Department 4th precinct headquarters on Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. There were some scheduled speakers, but also an open passing of the megaphone to those who wanted to speak.
A more mellow and festive atmosphere, with a smaller police presence, prevailed after Wednesday evening's tear gas clashes between police and protesters.
Protests and an encampment at the site have been ongoing since the police shooting of 24-year-old Jamar Clark by Minneapolis Police on Sunday, November 15.
