Indian Ocean Tsunami

A family is living and storing all their salvaged belongings in a government-issued tent near the beach in the fishing village of Perumalpettai, in Tamil Nadu, India, on January 21, 2005, after their home was swept away by the Indian Ocean Tsunami on December 26, 2004. The tsunami killed 37 villagers and destroyed nearly all of their fishing boats. Generated by an earthquake on the ocean floor, the tsunami devastated the fishing industry along the southeastern coast of India.
