In-between games the warming house is a social scene during the 10th annual U.S. Pond Hockey Championships at Lake Nokomis in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 16, 2015. Here, Merrill Harris, 32, of Minneapolis, MN (center, in "M" hat) and the Isles North team, joins others players as they lift cans of Labatt Blue beer and Red Bull (two of the tournaments sponsors) in honor of long-time pond hockey tournament player Michael Quinn who died in December of 2014.

This year, conflicting groups in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan are putting on events which are all billed as U.S. national pond hockey championships.
